Elevated errors in the Customer Platform and Platform APIs

Summary

On February 20, 2020, at 4:43 AM Eastern Time, pages in the Customer Portal and calls in the Platform APIs related to listings and reviews started returning errors to customers. Service was restored at 5:47 AM.

Root Cause

A database server failed leading to unavailability of part of the platform. We were able to recover the server and restore service.

Remediation

We will look at the root cause of the machine failure to reduce the risk of future occurrence. We will also look at our paging process to reduce the impact of similar future events.

We are seeing increased errors in the Customer Platform and Platform APIs, especially in the listings and reviews parts of the system. Consumer serving is unaffected. The root cause has been identified and we are working on remediating.
