On Tuesday, June 5th, from 12:08 PM EST to 1:40 PM, our Reviews API was unable to retrieve reviews data. The errors were first detected at 1:18 PM upon manual inspection of our monitoring. We quickly identified the issues and mitigated the errors by 1:43 PM. No other areas of our platform were affected during this time period.
The addition of a new publisher to our platform incorrectly conflicted with existing data and caused reviews code to fail as it was unable to determine the correct publisher. Going forward we will improve our monitoring to catch such conditions, and also update our publisher onloading process to disallow such conflicts.
