On November 6th, 2018, starting at 12:30 PM EST, parts of the Pages store locator became unresponsive and error rates increased. Only Pages store locators were affected--location and location directory pages were not impacted by this degradation. At 12:50 PM EST the root cause was identified and a fix was implemented which restored service at 1:01 PM EST.
A DNS server experienced a failure mode that prevented our applications from using our backup DNS servers. We will account for this failure mode going forward.
